Departure in early morning
I couldn't sleep at all due to noise and an uncomfortable bed. I woke up 5 am and left the hotel at 5:30 am.
It was still dark. I was so sleepy that I felt I was staying up all night.
The dawn was breaking.
Mt.Bisan is the symbol of Tokushima city. I walked to the station. It was a warm morning.
I had a morning set meal at Matsuya in front of Tokushima station. I left Tokushima at 6:37 am and headed for Naruto.
The train crossed the Yoshino River, the largest river in Shikoku, by an iron bridge.
I arrived Naruto at 8:20 am.
The population of Naruto is 55,000. The station building was small.
I walked to Kosoku-Naruto bus stop which was located at 1km distance from the station.
Kosoku-Naruto Bus Stop
Why I got on the bus from Naruto?
From here, I planed to take the JR Shikoku Express Bus for Kobe and Osaka. Tokushima station would be convenient to take the bus, but since I still use the Youth 18 ticket from Kobe to Nagoya, I wanted to save a little on the bus fare. A bus from Naruto is about 400 yen cheaper than a bus from Tokushima.
And I had another purpose to come here.
It was next to this building "Naruto Tourist Information Center".
The purpose is to ride the slope car "Sloppy".
If you push the red button,・・・
The Sloppy came down slowly from the top . It was the unmanned vehicle and the second generation. The first generation had yellow coloring.
The door opened and I got on it.
There were some elevator-like buttons inside, and I pressed "Up".
Then, the door automatically closed and it climbed slowly on the rail like a monorail.
After 90 seconds, I arrived at the top. The Sloppy is legally classified as elevators rather than monorails. It is weird.
By the way, this sloppy is free to use.
To the bus stop for Kobe and Osaka, I had to pass through the tunnel under the highway.
This was the bus stop.
Tokushima is close to Kobe and Osaka. And after the opening of Akashi-kaikyo bridge and Onaruto bridge, highway bus routes have been substantial.
Onaruto Bridge And Awaji Island
After getting on the bus, I crossed Onaruto Bridge and entered Awaji Island. There was Otsuka Museum of Art in front of it, but it was closed due to COVID-19.
I couldn't see the famous Naruto's vortex.
The bus ran along the west coast of Awaji island.
Akashi-Kaikyo Bridge
The bus crossed Akashi-Kaikyo bridge.
The left was Awaji island and the right was Honshu.
Maiko,Kobe
I got off at Kosoku-Maiko bus stop, which was located either across the bridge or over the bridge. It took about 50 minutes from Naruto and the fare was 2,550 yen.
This side is a bus stop only for getting off, so you cannot take a bus from here to the direction of Kobe or Osaka. There is a bus stop on the opposite side for Shikoku.
The bus stop is quite high, and you can go down to the ground by stairs, escalators, elevators, etc.
I used the long escalator. JR Maiko Station and Sanyo Railway Maiko-Koen Station are just around the corner.
I took a short walk before getting on the JR.
The Akashi Kaikyo Bridge is 3,911m long and is the largest suspension bridge in the world, and the height of the main tower is 298.3m. This is almost as high as the Landmark Tower in Yokohama.
This is a huge anchorage on the Akashi-Kaikyo Bridge.
